I am a passionate and dedicated pedagogical professional with extensive experience in supporting children and their families in medical and care settings. I currently work as a Pedagogical Care Worker at AZ Sint-Jan Bruges, where I prepare and guide children and young people through medical procedures, with a strong focus on anxiety and stress reduction using child-centred approaches.
I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Orthopedagogics and a postgraduate qualification in child-centered play therapy. In addition, I have completed several specialised trainings in procedural comfort, pediatric pain management, therapeutic storytelling, grief and loss, and communication in medical settings. I actively contribute to knowledge sharing within the hospital. I regulary provide internal training sessions for healthcare professionals.
Throughout my career, I have collaborated closely with multidisciplinary teams including doctors, psychologists, therapists, and nursing staff. I bring an empathetic and calm communication style and create safe, structured, and supportive environments for children in challenging situations, with a strong focus on engaging and supporting parents throughout the process.
