Stina Klemming, MD, is a consultant pediatrician and neonatologist and a NIDCAP Trainer affiliated with the NIDCAP Federation International.
Dr. Klemming worked at the Karolinska University Hospital, the Astrid Lindgrens Children’s Hospital including the NICU from 2002-2022. She was Director of the Karolinska NIDCAP Training and Research Center 2018-2021 and Co-Director of the Lund-Malmö NIDCAP Center 2021 to 2025. She is active in the research group for the randomized clinical trial IPISTOSS (Immediate Parent Infant Skin-TO-Skin Study). She promotes and teaches Infant- and Family-Centered Developmental Care according to the Newborn Individualized Developmental Care and Assessment Program, NIDCAP, on a national and international level. She chairs the IFCDC group within the Swedish Neonatal Society. The concept of Zero Separation, immediate skin-to-skin contact and mother-newborn couplet care are her special interests and competencies. She co-chaired a large multiprofessional work group assigned from the Swedish Association of Local Authorities and Regions that in 2024 published The Swedish National Guidelines on Initial Uninterrupted Skin-to-Skin Contact at birth and Mother-Newborn Couplet Care.
Dr. Klemming chairs the organizing committee for the Swedish Conference on Ultra-Early Intervention since 2018.
