Arine Vlieger was trained as pediatrician in Utrecht, the Netherlands. After her registration as a pediatrician in 1998, she started her fellowship in pediatric immunology/ rheumatology in Utrecht, and it was there that she got interested in the body-mind connection. She was trained in pediatric hypnotherapy in the United States. Since June 2001, she is working as a general pediatrician in the St. Antonius Hospital, Utrecht, the Netherlands, with a special interest in hypnotherapy. She has performed several multicenter trials on hypnotherapy in chronic abdominal pain, nausea and chronic headaches. Moreover, she has co-founded the Dutch society for hypnosis in children and the Dutch training in pediatric hypnosis.
