Rick studied dentistry at the Radboud University at Nijmegen, the Netherlands. He has a postgraduate degree in special care dentistry. Since 2001 he works as a dentist at the department of oral and maxillofacial surgery and special care dentistry at the University Medical Centre of Utrecht. Until recently he was co-president of the Foundation of Special Care Dentistry (SBT) in Amsterdam and chair of the Dutch association of special care dentistry. He’s a member of several committees regarding special care dentistry and procedural sedation and analgesia.
Rick has special interests in behavioral management supporting dental treatment of special needs patients, as well as procedural sedation and analgesia. He’s the head lecturer in the postgraduate coarse program of minimal to moderate procedural sedation with nitrous oxide for dentists.
