Wolfgang Buhre
Professor Wolfgang Buhre studied Medicine in Göttingen and Zurich, Germany, and received his MD in 1992. He became a resident in Anesthesiology, Intensive Care and Pain Medicine at the University Hospital Göttingen. He obtained his PhD on anti-inflammatory properties of isoflurane in patients undergoing CABG-surgery in 2002 at Aachen Medical School, Germany. Wolfgang Buhre was appointed Professor of Anesthesiology at the University Medical Center Utrecht in 2008 and Head of the Department of Anesthesiology from 2009 - 2013. Since 2013, he is Head of the Department of Anesthesiology of the University Hospital in Maastricht. Prof. Buhre has been involved in the ESA since 2006, notably as a member of the Scientific and Research Committees. He was the Chairperson of the Research Committee since January 2015 till the end of 2017.
